Montecarlo

The Montecarlo or ß Montecarlo was intended to be the FIAT X1/20 - a big brother to the X1/9. However it became a Lancia and utilised the Lancia Beta twin cam engine, mid mounted in a Pininfarina designed and built shell. American versions received the 1800 engine and were called Scorpions. The Montecarlo was praised for being pretty and for having excellent handling and steering. The cars were developed by Abarth and became successful competition cars - becoming the 037 Rallye and the Montecarlo Turbo Group 5 endurance racer.
