For Sale – Dallara F397 in latest Monoposto 2000 specification, with Vauxhall XE engine on throttle body fuel injection.

Dallara F397, chassis 054 was subject to a comprehensive strip down and rebuild over winter 2010/11, including full rewire, engine refurbishment, as well as stripping body to bare carbon and repaint.

The car is supplied ready to race. Currently has the gear ratios from Snetterton 300 fitted.

Freshly rebuilt Vauxhall C20XE engine with AT Power direct to head throttle bodies and Omex 600 ECU, mapped at Scholar Engines dyno. New magnesium sump from Spiess. Mapped for Shell V-Power fuel.

New Simpson re-packable exhaust silencer which passes noise tests with ease. Spare woven wadding ready for the eventual day that it doesn’t.

Brand new Lifeline fire extinguisher system, fitted August 2011.

Racepak IQ3 digital dashboard which incorporates shift lights and data logger with GPS. Very useful delta time facility. All software present, but will need a Windows laptop. Training session will be given with some sample data to purchaser.

Narrow track suspension fitted.

Cartek solid state battery isolator.

Two fresh batteries supplied with car for when mains power in paddock is scarce.

Several sets of wheels with slicks and wet tyres.

Spares package includes some spare bodywork, gear ratios and various wishbones/steering components.

This car holds Monoposto lap records at Mallory Park – 43.812s, Rockingham (International) 1:20.461, and Silverstone National: 57.209, as well as the old Snetterton layout at 1:07.790.

Unlike many cars, all the owners and drivers are known, as well as major championship results, meaning individual race results easier to research if necessary. The car has won or come in top three of every championship entered since 1999.

History:

1997 – supplied new to German F3 team GM Motorsport, was driven initially by Steffan Widmann and later Ronny Melkus.

1998 – continued with GM Motorsport and was raced by Wouter van Eeuwij.

1999 saw Franz Woss Racing take the car to Austria and with Andre Fibier won the Austrian F3 Cup that year, as well as the Austrian Masters series, Czechoslovakian F3 and the FIA Central European F3 Championship.

In 2000 Diego Romanini drove the car, finishing 3rd in Austrian F3 and 2nd in the Austrian Masters Competition.

2001 saw the car come to the UK where Performance Racing Europe ran Matthew Gilmore in British F3 Scholarship class. Gilmore came within 2 points of winning, but was pipped by Robbie Kerr. However Gilmore took 6 class wins, 7 class poles and 8 class fastest laps.

The car was not used in 2002 and 2003, but in 2004 Shane Kelly (SK Racing) acquired the car and ran it in the ARP F3 series, coming 2nd in 2004, 3rd in 2005 but won the championship (now called Club F3) in 2006 (now called Club F3) with 6 wins. An engine failure prior to the 2007 season, and lack of funds to repair, meant the car was sold as was to Jeremy Timms.

Timms bought the car in 1997 and converted it to Monoposto spec on carburettors, debuting the car mid season. 3 wins in the car that season saw him finish 2nd in Mono2000.

In 2008 Jeremy took the title with 8 wins and 9 fastest laps.

2009 saw a very close finish, but lost the championship to Neil Harrison in the final laps of the final race.

2010 saw a very close battle with Tristan Cliffe, with Cliffe once again pipping Jeremy to the title.

At the end of the 2010 season, Tony Bishop bought the car. Extensive refurbishment over the winter, including conversion to fuel injection along with other upgrades. Tony finished 3rd in the championship with best result being 2nd at Snetterton, and two front row starts shows car has single lap performance as well.

Car is stored near Norwich and can be viewed by appointment.
