I have owned the car since early February 2007 and in this time I have covered just under 7,000 trouble free miles mainly to classic car and other LMC events. It is well regarded in the Lancia Motor Club and the Beta forum (Betaboyz) and has appeared at many AGM’s, the 2009 NEC Classic Car show and 2011 Event City indoor show in Manchester. It won class concours at the AGM in Daventry in 2007.
The car requires little to make concours, if you are a good DIY person then it would not cost much in time or effort to get 100% but as I am not, I have not bothered to address any of these minor issues which I have lived with since purchase as they have not really deteriorated any further.
The car is one of the first Volumex’s imported, built July/August 1983 it was registered on 17/10/83 to Millar Brothers in Kenilworth were it remained as a dealer demonstrator until June ’84. The second owner kept until May ’92. The third owner partially restored the car in 1996 but sadly passed away in 1999. The car then stood in a Shropshire barn until my purchase in early 2007. I have copies of all the V5 documents.
I had the car fully serviced and all perishable mechanical parts replaced upon collection (£2k bill) by Betacar and since purchase the car has never been off the road and serviced annually with invoices for over £4,000 in my ownership.
I would honestly describe the car as 100% mechanically & structurally sound, 95% electrically sound(rear washer tube inoperative (wiper ok), original radio/cassette works but not connected to aerial), 95% internally sound(seatbelt wear to outer edge of drivers seat is cars worst aspect), 95% cosmetically sound(blistering to scuttle under windscreen, small scuff to o/s front wheel-arch, ditto rear o/s wheel-arch, micro-blistering to passenger door). I do not consider any defects to be of concern.
All in all it has been a fantastic car and remains ultra reliable, it is my eighth Lancia and I am only selling as I fancy a change. It has covered 56,500 genuine miles, is taxed until the end July 2012 and MOT’d until February 2012.
Would consider part exchanging towards a 2000HF Coupe or Thema 8.32
When I do sell it will not necessarily be to the best offer but to the person I feel will give it the best attention assuming their offer is acceptable.
