Omicron Engineering was founded in 1981 by Martin Cliffe and his wife Elizabeth. At the time Martin was a Senior Engineer at Lotus Cars, concentrating mostly on the Lotus Turbo Esprit engine. Following the death of Colin Chapman, and the uncertain future of Lotus Cars following the DeLorean scandal, Omicron was started.
Initially concentrating on Martin’s experience and expertise with turbocharging cars, as well as restoring cars – initially Maserati, Lamborghini, Ferrari and Aston Martin, but over time Lancia has become our main area of expertise, a marque much admired by Martin since he first experienced a Lancia Fulvia in the late 1960’s.
The business has several facets
- Workshop Services – our workshops are divided into a mechanical workshop and our bodyshop and fabrication department. Combined we can tackle almost any job from a routine service through to a full concours type ‘nut & bolt’ restoration and almost anything in between.
- The other side of the business is an International Mail Order parts service – we we carry huge stocks of parts and arrange to get many parts remade.
- Cars for sale – whilst we have previously shied away from this aspect of business, we know of many cars that are available to purchase. Car owners often mention that they are thinking of selling their car, and prospective buyers often contact us whilst doing their due diligence and research. Therefore we can often assist by introducing buyers and sellers.
